Cosmetic acupuncture is an effective and non-invasive procedure for reducing the signs of ageing. It is considered the safe alternative to botox. The technique has almost no side effects, needing minimal or zero recovery time in the great majority of instances.
In this Cosmetological treatment, the practitioner inserts very fine needles into specific points in your face. The needles used in face acupuncture are extremely thin and are different to those used on the body. This cosmetic treatment is natural and holistic, making you look younger and healthier; it affects the health of the entire body in a positive way, creating a general improvement in well-being.
What are the main benefits?
Face acupuncture helps to improve blood circulation in facial skin as well as promoting overall body health. Besides nourishing the skin and activating collagen production for improved muscle tone and elasticity, the appearance of wrinkles is alleviated with the effective treatment of the underlying factors contributing to the ageing process.
How many treatments do I need to see the effect?
The general feeling of well-being experienced is immediate but to see a difference in your skin we recommend a course of treatment for five to six weeks, once weekly, followed by monthly maintenance treatments thereafter.
A leaflet with after-care home instructions and self-massage treatment will be given to you after the first session.
The benefit of the treatments varies in relation to your initial overall health, diet and life style. Salient issues arising here will be addressed, on request.
How old is cosmetic acupuncture?
Face or Cosmetic acupuncture has been an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for a long time, records dating back to as early as 960 AD. Initially the records focus on treatment of the Empress and other members of the Imperial family, becoming progressively more wide-spread in court circles with the passage of time. Nowadays Chinese cosmetology has been recognised as a specialist subject within Chinese medicine since 1949.
Are there any side effects?
Generally there are no side effects but occasionally small bruises or soreness can appear after the session. These invariably clear up on their own within a few days.
Therefore, I don’t recommend to have a session immediately before you need to go to a special event. If you wish to treat yourself to a facial treatment a day or two before so as to look radiant and at your best a Japanese facial massage is for you, alternatively a whole body Shiatsu will also unlock your inner smile.
